Manager Strategy & Development (f/m)

The department Group Strategy & Development and Cementitious Materials is looking for a Manager Strategy & Development (f/m)
You will be located in Heidelberg, Germany, and report to the Director Group Strategy & Development. 

Your next challenge

  • Group strategy development – contribute to the development and monitoring of HeidelbergCement Group strategy:
    • Strategy formulation and communication with top and senior management
    • Market and competitor analysis and forecasting, including network optimisation projects
    • Liaison with country and Area management as part of the Strategic Planning Process (STP)
  • Investment review process – manage HeidelbergCement Group reviews of large CapEx and M&A projects: 
    • Prepare the Group Strategy & Development review and overall Group Functions summary of large CapEx and M&A projects for Board decision
  • M&A activities:
    • Business development activities including target identification and evaluation
    • Alongside Group or Area Strategy & Development Directors, manage acquisitions and divestments as required
    • Liaise with HeidelbergCement Area Strategy & Development teams in order to maintain a clear pipeline of M&A activity within the HeidelbergCement Group
  • Strategy analyses: 
    • Undertake ad-hoc strategic analysis on industry-related topics or specific competitors
    • Structure the analysis, manage the collection of market research data, manage teams, as required and present findings to top / senior management or internal steering committees
    • Market demand forecasting analyses

Your profile

  • University degree required, preferably post-graduate qualification in business or economics to MBA or PhD level
  • Professional experience within the construction or building materials industries 
  • Line management, functional management or consulting/investment banking experience
  • Hands-on experience in M&A activities and negotiation would be an advantage
  • Demonstrable track record of leadership within an organisation
  • Ability to manage and to work constructively within internationally diverse and cross-functional teams 
  • Strong analytical ability and proficiency in Excel 
  • Strong finance knowledge and experience in financial modelling and valuation
  • Strong presentation preparation and delivery skills
