Role Summary/Purpose:

  • Customer facing staff responsible for winning business.The role of this position will be to maximize opportunity identification/ generation and follow-up with the assigned Key Accounts and the coordination of commercial bidding activities with these Key Accounts through personal Account Management and the leadership of the assigned Account Manager Team in NW Germany.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Selling to named account(s), addition of a new customer is typically rare and usually subject to review process. Include key accounts within a single business group/P&L. Leads the development of business plans for a specific product or product line. Complex products and systems requiring technical knowledge and knowledge of the environment where the products and systems will be used. Cooperates with technical colleagues to answer customer requests and discuss local conditions. Department is involved in medium-sized sales.Lead team of 3-5 Account Managers at different locations in NW Germany, with respect to the following tasks:
  • Grow Grid Solutions business with selected Customer Accounts in a given territory and for the full Grid Solutions product portfolio
  • Establish and implement key account plans for related accounts in line with Grid Solutions strategy, i.e.:
  • Identify the main strategic objectives of the customer and the corresponding solutions from GS
  • Propose a set of strategic actions to develop business and opportunities
  • Set-up a governance for regular follow-up with relevant internal and external business sponsors
  • Assure for each key opportunity internal stakeholders are aligned (Product and Solution/ Service Sales Specialists, Commercial Operations, Legal, Finance, Operation, Tax)
  • Identify for each key opportunity the customer internal decision process and stakeholders
  • Establish and align internally a winning strategy focusing on differentiation with competition
  • Identify and assess potential partners to create and follow-up specific opportunities (E&C, Civil, Software, IoT, Smart Grids, BESS, etc)
  • Identify potential issues and risks with the Accounts (product specs, operation, terms & conditions, tax,) and align internal stakeholders on the mitigation plans
  • Consult internal stakeholders on deal pricing and negotiation strategy

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Major working experience in Account Management, Product or Solutions Sales, ideally in the German Energy Sector
  • Relevant experience in managing a team of remote located sales managers
  • First experiences with IoT applications and projects in Utility Sector welcome
  • Experience in the execution of projects in the German utility sector welcome
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of a large customer organization
  • High level of cultural sensitivity, flexibility and emotional intelligence in order to work effectively within GE’s multicultural environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Language skills: German (must); English
