Planday is headquartered in Denmark, but is growing strategically in Germany.


To help us achieve the growth we’re aiming for, we’re hiring a Sales Director for Germany.

As Sales Director for Germany, you are responsible for building and managing our German Sales team. This includes a wide range of responsibilities that drive growth in the German market. You will focus primarily on growing the German sales team, but will also be responsible for ensuring the right Marketing and Customer Success processes are in place to meet our targets. You are responsible for all aspects, both the P&L, partnerships and the engagement levels of employees and customers alike.

We’re headquartered in the heart of Copenhagen’s startup village, and have offices in New York, Oslo, Berlin, London, Hanoi. This role will be based out of Planday’s Berlin office. We expect to grow the German sales team to 8 people by the end of 2017, and 16 people by the end of 2018.

The role
The role is a combination of hands-on sales, strategic planning, partnerships, leadership, and oversight of daily operations. The primary focus is creating new sales, with an overall responsibility for P&L.

This includes the following responsibilities:

  • Manage your full sales cycle: from generating leads, demonstrating the product, pricing, negotiation and closing
  • Work with the CSO on the overall strategy for the market, including business development, go-to-market execution, regional solution adaptations, pricing, partnering, etc.
  • Be accountable for all German revenue and cost targets
  • Develop the Planday brand through building relationships in the industry, identifying opportunities, growing existing relationships, completing business deals and entering new industry markets
  • Play a leadership role within the business by managing growth in Germany, ensuring that all activities are adding value to the business and are prioritized accordingly
  • Scale, develop and manage the German sales team, including recruitment, training, and coaching
  • Focused on achieving your goals and KPIs
  • Excited about sales and the customer contact
  • A proven sales leader, with experience and industry knowledge – preferably within SaaS, hospitality, POS, or payroll
  • Experienced with revenue forecasting, inside sales and budgeting in a high-volume B2B subscription business. Preferably with 5 years of experience
  • A proven leader with a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing and developing a team
  • Experienced with startups or a high-growth environment

Furthermore, we expect that you: 

  • Are fluent in German and English
  • Have experience using CRM to forecast sales opportunities
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Are willing to travel to Copenhagen on a frequent basis
  • Create a fun and dynamic work environment for your team
